How to Build Corporate Credit: Establish Business Credit With the Credit Bureaus

For most the business of establishing business credit or building corporate credit remains a mystery. There are plenty of corporate credit and lines of credit gimmicks out there to add to the confusion. I have seen advertisements for workshops and seminars, shelf company’s and other various methods for building business credit which are simply designed to take your money.

The truth is there is a systematic process that the business owner must follow to build business credit. All too many people try to put the cart before the horse. For instance their focus often times is on how to secure a business loan without a personal guarantee when they have yet to spend the time to repair their personal credit. Although business credit and personal credit are completely separate you can’t substitute good business credit for bad personal credit.

Once you have your personal credit in check the next step would be to establish your company as a legitimate business with the credit bureaus. How does one do that? Well, you must have a business phone number, a real address to a real brick and mortar building. You should obtain the proper licensing and permits to operate in your industry and local jurisdiction.

As you can see the process for establishing corporate or business credit is not to be taken lightly. So before you concentrate on lines of credit, personal guarantees, credit cards or business loans take the time to lay the foundation. It can’t be bought and likely won’t be taught at any high dollar seminar or workshop.

We haven painstakingly put together a comprehensive E-book to help take the mystery out of building credit and to hopefully make the journey a much easier one.
